When the Portland Timbers set out to celebrate their 50th anniversary, they wanted a merchandise collection that carried the same emotion and nostalgia as their commemorative kit — without simply replicating it. 

They shared the creative cues behind the jersey: a pattern inspired by tree rings and a rich metallic gold symbolic of their milestone season. From there, they gave our design team room to explore and create.

We took those elements not as literal assets to apply, but as storytelling foundations. The retro direction allowed us to build a vintage-inspired visual language, blending heritage textures, bold typography, and elevated detailing that felt true to the Timbers DNA. The metallic gold became a subtle yet meaningful thread throughout the capsule, tying the pieces back to the anniversary narrative.

The standout piece was the varsity jacket — a premium, collector-level garment lined with a custom tree-ring–inspired print and finished with a commemorative interior label. It quickly became a hero product, embodying both craft and club identity.

The full collection resonated deeply with supporters. It felt nostalgic without being predictable, celebratory without being loud — a meaningful tribute to five decades of Portland football culture.
